Good Day is an application published by MARVEY, a film and television production company. It offers six sections a day: Good News, Bien Dit, La Photo, La Surprise, Green Deal and Good Tune. The home screen lays them out as a grid, each with its colour and its framing, under the day's date. You open a tile, you read or listen, you come back.

The project in detail
The application is written with Ionic and Angular 8. The media are bundled, audio tracks included: seventy-seven megabytes that let the application work with no connection, which matters for content read on the move. Daily notifications went through OneSignal.
On the server side, a Django API models the domain precisely: one object for the day, one for each piece of content, one for the content type, and a style guide attached to the type. That is what makes it possible to add a section without touching the application.
Forty-seven commits in all, in February 2020: six for the application, forty-one for the API. The application was written in one go. Rebuilt today with the Angular CLI of its era, it opens and shows the current date, six years on.
That last point deserves a pause, because it was not a given. A 2020 mobile application depends on tooling that ages quickly, and most of them refuse to rebuild five years later. This one starts again with no line changed, because its dependencies were locked to the exact version at delivery. That is the difference between a project you can pick up again and a project you have to rewrite.
